Benefits of Aloe and Elderflowers

Aloe

Since the Ancient Egyptians, humans have been using aloe.
The Egyptians discovered its healing powers and used it as
one of the ingredients of embalming fluid.
In the 10th century, aloe was introduced to the Europeans,
where it became an important ingredient in many herbal medicines.
Cleopatra was said to have used Aloe as a beauty tool.
There are over 300 different types of aloe but only a few were
used traditionally as medicines, by far the most popular
being aloe vera. See here for further
information on Aloe Vera.

Elderflowers
Delicate, lemony, muscat scented elderflower is a
quintessentially English flavour. It has a centuries old
tradition of medicinal and culinary use.
The flowers are the part most often used medicinally,
for a wide range of ailments including colds & flu, fever,
croup and skin complaints such as eczema.
Maud Grieve's "A Modern Herbal", originally
published in 1931, features 11 pages of information
on elderflowers. Besides its medicinal applications,
elderflowers were widely used in cosmetic preparations,
particularly for the elimination of freckles and the whitening
of the skin!
